Title: Cyprus National Strategy for Hydrogen (Original language)

Released: June 2025

The strategy was approved by the Council of Ministers in June 2025 and focuses on planned actions for the development and promotion of the hydrogen market for the period 2025-2030, with priority given to the transport sector. The action plan until 2030 is structured around three main themes:

• The establishment of a comprehensive legislative framework that will regulate the production and utilisation of hydrogen in transport.
• Broadly informing stakeholders and promoting specialised education programs in the field of hydrogen.
• The gradual integration into the heavy vehicle fleet by 2030 of a specific number of buses and trucks that will use hydrogen as fuel (a plan included in the National Energy and Climate Plan).

The strategy also defines the competent licensing authorities for hydrogen projects, in accordance with their institutional responsibilities – briefly presented in the Table of Competences (Original Language).
