Co-combustion of hydrogen and diesel has the potential to reduce diesel emissions significantly. Our aim is to reduce GHG and other emissions through artificial intelligence-based (AI-based) techniques to optimise and evaluate injection timing for hydrogen injection systems.

By developing retrofit technology to allow existing diesel engines to run on hydrogen/diesel dual fuels, we’ll use 1-dimensional model data for engine performance and exhaust emissions – validated with those of AI and experimental data.

We’re producing a prototype diesel engine system capable of hydrogen/diesel co-combustion, with a system suitable for retrofitting existing internal combustion engines.
