Yuqing Chen

Postdoctoral Fellow in Full Waveform Seismic Imaging

I am specialized in seismic imaging, seismic inversion, and machine learning methods. My research focuses on recovering the subsurface model (such as velocity and Q features) using both the deterministic inversion method and machine learning algorithms. Within CSIRO, I have been working on seismic inversion using a hybrid machine learning algorithm that combines a deep learning neural network with a wave-equation inversion kernel to invert for the subsurface model parameters of interests.


Technical Skills

  • Skilled in different programming languages (such as MATLAB, Python, Fortran, Pytorch, MPI and Openmp) and Softwares (Seismic Unix, Paraview)
  • In-depth knowledge of seismic imaging methods (such as reverse time migration, least-square migration, migration deconvolution, etc), seismic inversion methods (such as full-waveform inversion, reflection inversion, migration velocity analysis, etc) and machine learning algorithms (both supervised and unsupervised method, such as Convolutional neural network, Autoencoder, clustering method, etc)
  • Parallel computing in HPC.
