Peng Guo

Research Scientist in Seismic Imaging

A free-style geophysicist interested in solving scientific problems using geophysical tools. Research on full waveform inversion (adjoint-state, Bayesian inference), oceanic crust accretion, seismic wave numerical simulation, and time-lapse seismic monitoring using ambient and active sources. Prior to joining Deep Earth Imaging, in 2017 I received my PhD studying seismic full waveform modelling and imaging in attenuating media.

With my research focus on full waveform seismic imaging/inversion (FWI), I deliver to the seismic imaging research program.

Technical skills

  • Seismic multi-parameter (elasticity, anisotropy, attenuation) waveform forward modeling, linearized modelling, adjoint wavefield propagation
  • Seismic full waveform imaging and inversion
  • High performance computing (MPI/OpenMP), including GPU programming on HPC facilities
  • Scientific computing coded in FORTRAN, Python, C, and Matlab
