INOWAYTION

We are witnessing an alarming increase in crashes and fatalities on Australian roads, making the country’s goal of zero fatalities seem more distant. Stakeholders such as road operators, insurance companies, navigation services, and ride-sharing companies face significant challenges in reducing these numbers due to a lack of high-quality data and accurate models for predicting high-crash-risk areas, which are critical for effective prevention.

To address this issue, we integrated historical crash data with potential risk factors such as land use and weather details. This enables the development of interpretable models to identify key risks by location in real time. By pinpointing these risks, we can implement tailored safety solutions for specific areas. In NSW alone, over 75% of high-crash-risk segments can be proactively identified, allowing us to mitigate risks before crashes occur, ultimately improving road safety.
