AmpuEase

Traumatic lower-limb amputation profoundly impacts mobility and quality of life for amputees. Current below-knee sockets can cost up to $14000 and are custom-made for each amputee, yet these bespoke prostheses often provide a sub-optimal fit and require manual adjustment throughout the day. We’ve listened to amputees and identified the common issues that they face with their prosthesis. This understanding will inform a new socket design that fits better and is easily adjustable, to provide a perfect fit for all daily activities. We utilise modern fabrication techniques to make our sockets more cost effective, easier and faster to produce, and more durable, allowing amputees to get back to living an active life.
