Project description

(This project was previously titled ‘Queensland Solar Hydrogen Facility’.)

In December 2022, European Energy announced that it had acquired a majority stake in Austrom and would be undertaking the development work as well as managing the grid process for the Pacific Solar Hydrogen Project portfolio (located in the Callide-Gladstone region of Queensland).

Austrom has secured the rights to four renewable sites covering 6,000 hectares near Callide in close proximity to the port of Gladstone.

The project plans to develop solar farm and battery facilities near Callide, central Queensland, with a capacity of up to 3,600 megawatts (MW). The solar farm facilities would supply renewable energy for a planned hydrogen production plant located at the port of Gladstone.

The hydrogen production plant would have the capacity to produce over 100,000 tonnes of (renewables-based) hydrogen per annum, with a major focus on export potential.

This project is now focussed on solar energy development.
