Project description
The Hydrogen Refueller @H2Perth (Hydrogen Refueller) is a self-contained hydrogen, storage and refuelling station. The Hydrogen Refueller is currently under construction in the Rockingham Industry Zone (RIZ), south of Perth and adjacent to Woodside’s proposed H2Perth project, a commercial scale liquid hydrogen production facility.
The opportunity proposes to use electricity sourced from the grid from renewable sources and to procure renewable energy certificates to abate remaining emissions.
In July 2023, Woodside executed an agreement with the State of Western Australia for funding under the Western Australian Government’s AUD$10 million Hydrogen Fuelled Transport Program for the Hydrogen Refueller @H2Perth.
Woodside has advised that it awarded the major services contract for the Hydrogen Refueller in March 2024; this includes detailed engineering, construction, commissioning and start-up work scopes to enable progression towards ready for start-up. In 2024, all primary environmental approvals were secured for the project.
Woodside took a final investment decision (FID) on the Hydrogen Refueller in May 2023.
In its second quarter report for the period ended June 2025, Woodside noted that the project had progressed construction activities with major equipment packages including electrolysers and compressors installed on site. Ready for startup is targeted for the fourth quarter of 2025 and first hydrogen production is expected in the first half of 2026.
Woodside is operator and holds a 100% participating interest.
Note: The proposed opportunity is subject to commercial arrangements, commercial feasibility, regulatory, Joint Venture approvals (where applicable), and third-party activities (which may or may not proceed). Individual investment decisions are subject to Woodside’s investment targets. Not guidance.
