Project description

The Hydrogen Refueller @H2Perth (Hydrogen Refueller) is a proposed self-contained renewable hydrogen (from electrolysis production), storage and refuelling station. The Hydrogen Refueller is proposed to be located in the Rockingham Industry Zone (RIZ), south of Perth and adjacent to Woodside’s proposed H2Perth project, a commercial scale liquid hydrogen production facility.

The proposed opportunity proposes to use electricity sourced from the grid from renewable sources and to procure renewable energy certificates to abate remaining emissions.

In July 2023, Woodside executed an agreement with the State of Western Australia for funding under the Western Australian Government’s AUD$10 million Hydrogen Fuelled Transport Program for the Hydrogen Refueller @H2Perth.

Woodside has also signed a conditional non-binding Memorandum of Understanding stating its intention to supply hydrogen from the Hydrogen Refueller to Centurion. It is envisaged that these vehicles will replace diesel trucks currently in use, helping reduce emissions.

Woodside is also proposing to lease a small fleet of passenger vehicles which are to be refuelled at the facility.

Woodside has advised that it awarded the major services contract for the Hydrogen Refueller in March 2024; this includes detailed engineering, construction, commissioning and start-up work scopes to enable progression towards ready for start-up.

Woodside is targeting supply of hydrogen to Western Australian industrial and public customers in 2025.

Woodside is operator and holds a 100% participating interest.

Note: The proposed opportunity is subject to commercial arrangements, commercial feasibility, regulatory, Joint Venture approvals (where applicable), and third-party activities (which may or may not proceed). Individual investment decisions are subject to Woodside’s investment targets. Not guidance.
