Project description

(This project was previously titled ‘Hydrogen Tasmania’)

The Hydrogen Bell Bay Project would supply renewable hydrogen to the domestic market throughout the north of the State. As a 10 MW electrolyser project powered by hydro and wind power, it would be located at Bell Bay with the precise location being determined in consultation with landowners.

The domestic offtake opportunities lie in mobility (trucks, buses and ferries), blending hydrogen with natural gas in collaboration with Tas Gas, displacing diesel where it is used for power generation, and for supply to industry.

On February 8, 2022, ASX-listed company, ReNu Energy Limited (ASX:RNE) completed its acquisition of Countrywide Hydrogen under a scrip-for-scrip transaction, with the ASX announcement noting such transaction would allow Countrywide Hydrogen to progress its opportunities.
