Project description:

Situated on Corio Bay, GeelongPort is Victoria’s second largest port located within Victoria’s largest regional city, Geelong, around 75 kilometres southwest of Melbourne.

In November 2021, GeelongPort announced plans to expand its current operations with a AUD$100 million investment to establish the Geelong Hydrogen Hub, a hydrogen production and distribution facility. At the same time, GeelongPort announced that biomass to energy technology developer, CAC-H2, would be the Hub’s foundation hydrogen producer.

Development of the Geelong Hydrogen Hub will include the ability to produce ammonia for export to Asia.

GeelongPort is engaging with interested parties to identify future partnership opportunities in developing the Hub.

GeelongPort has indicated that, pending regulatory approvals, the first stage of the Hub could be operational by the end of 2023.
