Project description
In April 2022, the Western Australian Government announced that up to AUD$1 million in funding has been approved for the first stage of a feasibility study into the Collie Battery and Hydrogen Industrial Hub Project. The study, to be undertaken by Sunshot Energy, would assess the economic case for establishing a renewables-based hydrogen electrolyser as part of the Hub development, and which could also produce renewables-based ammonia and urea for agricultural and industrial uses.
This funding award follows the December 2020 announcement by the Western Australian Government of its ‘Just Transition Plan’ for Collie, a plan to support Collie’s transition away from emissions-intensive industries.
This description is based on publicly available information as at April 2022.
