CELEBRATING WOMEN’S CONTRIBUTION TO SCIENCE AND INNOVATION
Aus4Innovation is celebrating the remarkable contribution of women to innovation, research and sustainable development in Vietnam and around the world.
Outstanding women scientists are leading three of the seven pilots in our science commercialisation activities, when we partner research teams with the private sector to optimise market opportunities and community benefit in agriculture sector.
They have shared thoughts about their research and how they would like their work to be used.
Dr. Ha Phuong Thu
Dr. Thu is Head of Lab of Biomedical nanomaterials, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. Her work is about nanotechnology in public health care, nanotechnology in aquaculture, agriculture and especially nanotechnology in responding to climate change.
With a project called ‘Development of integrated nanomaterials for plants to respond to climate change’, Dr. Thu and her team are being mentored by Aus4Innovation program on science commercialisation. The team’s nanotechnology supports clean agriculture by reducing chemical fertilisers and pesticides.
Dr. Le Thi Nhi Cong
Dr. Cong is a microbiologist and a senior researcher at the Institute of Biotechnology, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. She and her team are using nanotechnology to reduce oil pollution and enhance soil quality.
Dr. Tran Thi Dinh
Dr. Dinh is a professor and Head of Department of Food Processing Technology, Vietnam National University of Agriculture. Her research focuses on reducing post-harvest losses of fruits and vegetables, developing new functional foods, improving food safety and food value chains. She and her team are reducing food waste in the dragon fruit value chain and creating processes for value-added fruit products.
