Infrastructure Technologies Operational Status

CSIRO Infrastructure Technologies wishes to advise of the operational status of its various facilities, with impacts in some areas due to COVID-19 as detailed. This table will be kept up-to-date with current information.

Please note that all customer-engagement meetings are currently being held by video conference, and no access for customers or visitors is being provided except where explicitly detailed in the table, below.

Facility Operational Status
Fire Testing (North Ryde, NSW)
Structural Fire Enforced social distance of at least 1.5m, having no more than one person per four square metres indoors, and not coming together in groups of more than 2 people.

Cleaning stations with alcohol wipes and hand sanitiser in each building and laboratory.

Additional cleaning and disinfecting of frequently used surfaces such as benchtops, office desks and doorhandles.

A limit of one contracted group on site per day, with a maximum of three people in total for specimen construction.

On the day of testing, a single company representatives are permitted to witness the test.

Each customer representative is to bring their own PPE while on site (e.g. masks, vests, hard hats, gloves etc).

A COVID-19 section has been added to the site induction for all contractors and visitors who plan to visit or carry out any work on site.

Reaction to Fire Laboratory is operating as normal, with staff conducting operations at suitable distancing from each other. 
Assessments The assessment team is operating as normal however staff are predominantly working from home and in the office and meetings are held as conference calls or video conferences.
Fire Safety Engineering (Clayton, VIC) Fire safety engineering consulting is operating as normal however staff are predominantly working from home. Local (Melbourne) building site inspections are continuing with special risk measures in place. Domestic travel is restricted and requires approval for “essential” activities.
Fire Systems (Clayton, VIC) Reduced services, with exemptions in accordance with Victorian State Government provisions.
Acoustics (Clayton, VIC) Reduced services, with exemptions in accordance with Victorian State Government provisions.

Currently no access for customers on-site.

Materials Performance (Clayton, VIC)
Pedestrian Surfaces Reduced services, with exemptions in accordance with Victorian State Government provisions.
Weathering Reduced services, with exemptions in accordance with Victorian State Government provisions.
Thermal Performance Reduced services, with exemptions in accordance with Victorian State Government provisions.
Cladding identification Services provided in accordance with specific exemptions in accordance with Victorian State Government provisions.

Normal operation.

APAS

APAS is operating with business as usual. No access to CSIRO by members/clients or visitors is being provided at present. No external physical audits are being held on member or client premises by CSIRO staff. The EOs will consider requests for desktop auditing and certificate extensions where they can be undertaken.

PCCP is operating with business as usual. No access to CSIRO by members/clients or visitors is being provided at present. No external physical audits are being held on member or client premises by CSIRO staff. The EOs will consider requests for desktop auditing and certificate extensions where they can be undertaken.
