Qingdong Qu

Qingdong Qu is a senior research engineer specialised in field-scale geotechnical investigation, numerical modelling and integrative analysis. His research applies integrated approaches to address various issues associated with multi-seam mining, such as strata control, gas emission prediction and drainage, and integrated coal-gas extraction. He has a broad knowledge of mining engineering, geotechnical investigation, groundwater response and gas emissions of underground coal mining in both Australia and China.

Qingdong joined CSIRO in 2009 after he obtained PhD degree in mining engineering in China University of Mining and Technology. Since then, he has participated in several large externally funded projects from Australia and overseas as a key researcher. The key projects include a major CMATSP project funded by Australian Government ($3M in collaboration with Glencore), an APP project ($2.2M), three deep mining projects (a total of $3M) funded by Huainan Mining Group of China, and an ACARP project ($360k).
