The Mining Geomechanics team under CSIRO Energy’s Coal Mining Research Program provides scientific tools and practical solutions to industry to minimise adverse impacts of mining on the environment and improve safety and productivity of mining operations. The team’s main focuses are:

  • Strata control
  • Mine water
  • Mine methane
  • Numerical modelling

The team comprises of experienced scientists and engineers from multi-disciplinary backgrounds. The team applies advanced and integrated scientific methods, geotechnical instruments, geophysical tools and hybrid numerical codes to provide solutions to the mining industry.
