Produced in collaboration CSIRO, and Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology, this study has developed a set of tools to assess the current situation and impacts of technological progress and innovation on Vietnam’s economic growth.
The report “Technological change in Vietnam: the contribution of technology to economic growth”, provides an in-depth analysis of the impact of technology on Vietnam’s economy.
By applying economic models to an extensive database of Vietnam business technology adoption, researchers shows that technology adoption contributed more than 50 per cent to total economic growth of Vietnam over the 2016-2019 period.
The report will be an important reference for policy in the economic transition process of Vietnam out to 2030, with the vision to 2045. It shows that efficiency and innovation play an increasingly important role and overtake physical capital and cheap labour in the contribution to economic growth.
This report is based on key recommendations from the 2019 report “Vietnam’s Future Digital Economy towards 2030 and 2045”.
