​Launched in 2018, the Aus4Innovation program supports Australia and Vietnam works together to explore emerging areas of technology and digital transformation, trial new models for partnerships between public and private sector institutions, and strengthen Vietnamese capability in digital foresight, scenario planning, commercialisation, and innovation policy. Expanding the impact of Aus4Innovation

The Aus4Innovation program has entered phase two, which has a stronger focus on the theme of resilient agriculture and food and aims to improve the directionality of Vietnamese innovation toward environmental sustainability and social inclusion. 

Phase two (from 2023-2028) of the Program will focus on: 

  • Innovation Policy Dialogue – supporting key Vietnamese Ministries to enact policy and regulatory reform that enables innovation, 
  • Developing a Network of Innovation Actors – innovation capacity building /training activities across government, academia, and industry particularly SMEs,  
  • Innovation Funding and Finance – awarding grant funding to Australian partners to transfer technology to Vietnamese partners enabling the delivery of high value innovative projects, and 
  • Innovation Partnerships – building and connecting research, industry and government agencies across Vietnam and into Australia 

The Aus4Innovation program is delivered through an enduring partnership between the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, CSIRO, and Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology.
