Terrain

Terrain or topography has a large influence on bushfire behaviour. Slope is considered in the NBIC workflow. For landscapes with a significant expanse, such as Australia, achieving consistent, high resolution and low error estimates of elevation is challenging.

Terrain is represented by Geoscience Australia’s Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM) Smoothed Digital Elevation Model (DEM-S).
