CSIRO Students at Chalmers University- 2019
Our PhD students, Dale OsborneĀ and Jonathan Clarke-Hannaford, are at Chalmers University of Technology for computational studies on ionic liquids in collaboration with Professor Patrik Johanson’s team.
While at Chalmers University, Dale will be using Gaussian software to investigate structural modification to FSI, TFSI, HTFSI anion systems; with a focus on improved performance. Through structural modification it will be possible to tune solubility, solvation behaviour, transport properties and lithiation energies.
Jonathan will be studying the adsorption of linear/cyclic boronium cation systems on lithium metal surfaces. In this project, we are seeking to understand the mechanism(s) surrounding initial stages of SEI layer formation, prior to and during cell cycling. Computational findings will be corroborated with in situ Raman and IR spectroscopy to provide some experimental validation to the simulations.
