Biodiversity New

CSIRO is working with partners to survey sawfish in far North Queensland and collect genetic data to gain a greater understanding of the size of these critical populations.

This project convened a consultative workshop with a diverse range of stakeholders including fishers, researchers, marine managers, and regional planners.

Scientists have recorded largetooth sawfish in the Archer River in Queensland, offering conservation hope for one of the most endangered groups of species on the planet.

Our researchers have been involved in projects delivering benefits under the National Environmental Science Program, and its predecessors.
