Remote ROAM revealed

January 1st, 2020

ROAM has experienced a step change in capability.

The new Remote ROAM allows users to run ROAM on a portable laptop rather than on centralised computing systems. Furthermore, the model can run in low bandwidth situations such as when users are at sea.

An additional functionality is that Remote ROAM can ingest observations into a data assimilation scheme. Users can input their own ocean observations and then see model accuracy improvements in their area.

These two exciting developments will significantly expand the opportunities for Defence and marine industries to use ROAM.

The developments are a result of a collaboration with Defence Science and Technology Group.
