We model the highly-dynamic and sparsely-observed ocean. From the ocean floor to the surface. From the global ocean circulation, to the coastal shelf, to the beach surf zone. Ever-changing ocean conditions create risk and uncertainty for industries and sectors that rely on the ocean, especially our maritime and naval industries and naval operations.
Accurate ocean forecasts are crucial for decision-making in marine industries and Defence applications. The CSIRO Bluelink team develops these ocean forecasting capabilities together with our Bluelink Partners.
What is CSIRO Bluelink?
CSIRO has played a foundation role in the conception, establishment and ongoing development of the Bluelink Ocean Forecasting initiative over more than 15 years.
The global model's ability to capture the ocean circulation is critical to the skill of forecasts at any scale.
Regional relocatable modelling delivers high-resolution forecasts to critical applications.
