Australia introduces tech for postharvest in Son La

September 15th, 2022

CoolBot project team has publicly showcased the innovative cooling technology ‘CoolBot’ to attract potential customers after successful pilots in Moc Chau, Son La province.

Funded by the #Aus4Innovation program and implemented by Fresh Studio and Applied Horticultural Research from Australia, the project has installed eleven walk-in coolers and two refrigerated trucks using CoolBot for farmers and cooperatives in Moc Chau. It has also provided technical training on postharvest techniques.

CoolBot technology uses controllers that allow conventional air-conditioning units to reach a temperature as low as 5oC. It has been proven to effectively reduce postharvest loss and is widely applied, especially in developing countries. Farmers in Son La now have access to an affordable solution to prevent loss and can tap into new market opportunities.

The project team is now seeking cooperation, customers and investors to take CoolBot to commercial scale. Read more about the project here https://research.csiro.au/aus4innovation/activities/grants/grants-round-2/
