March 3rd, 2020

Congratulations to our DARPA SubtChallenge team along with our partners Emesent and Georgia Institute of Technology for placing 4th on the DARPA Urban Circuit.

Below you can hear from our Team Leader Dr Nicolas Hudson on our approach to making various robots work as a team to explore urban underground environments. Below you can also watch all of our course runs.

Our first run

Watch Round 1 of Day 1 of the competition with tour team scoring their first 3 points.

Our second run

Watch our team scoring 3 more points in the competition. Highlights include having 6 robots on the course, clearing 5 sections and our Beachhead robot successfully tackling the stairs.

Our third run

Watch our team successfully finding 5 artefacts and reaching 6 sectors, with Emesent’s drone doing fantastic autonomous work and BIA5’s Titan robot exploring the limits.

Our final run

Watch how our team managed to get 7 robots out onto alpha course, exploring at least 4 sectors and scoring 4 points.

Next steps in the competition

Coming up in August this year, our team will now start preparations for the Cave Circuit, which will certainly bring its own exciting challenges.
