D61+ LIVE saw some of our projects on show! Read on if you missed it!

October 8th, 2019

The Data61+ LIVE free science showcase event took place in Sydney last week, 2-3 October, seeing some of our robots on display.

The public had the chance to come face-to-face with Ghost (our dog-like bot), one of BIA5’s fire-fighter robots, along with one of Emesent’s drone fitted with Hovermap. This collection, which is enhanced for autonomous navigation by our latest SLAM technology, forms part of the platforms being used by our team competing in the DARPA SubTChallenge.

On display, we also had Minita a fresh off-the-oven mini-version of our Magnopods‘ family that can be used for inspection in confined spaces.

Dr Sue Keay, our Program Research Direction and Dr David Howard, one of our research scientists, also took it to the stages to talk about our latest developments in robotics and autonomous systems and workforce considerations required as the automation of certain tasks increases.
