Marine Visual Technologies (MVT) is developing solutions to support sustainable fisheries management, from boat to plate.

Developed by CSIRO, MVT is developing species recognition Artificial Intelligence (AI) software to increase sustainability practices through the supply chain. It also provides consumers with more information on the source of their seafood.

On-board automated identification of fish catch can identify when a fish has been caught in real time, track it across the deck, and categorise it according to species. This can assist fisheries management in a cost-effective way plus helps to identify and quantify bycatch.

Extending AI technologies through the supply chain of fisheries will provide markets with greater clarity of product, and its source. It also provides communities, industries and regulators with greater assurances of sustainability.
