Meet the Hub

Quantum Commercialisation – Taking the next steps.

On Thursday 13th October the Lindfield Collaboration Hub, at CSIRO Lindfield, was proud to host the event: Quantum Commercialisation – Taking the Next Steps.

Building on the economic modelling update of CSIRO’s 2020 Quantum Technology Roadmap that predicted 16,000 quantum jobs and $4B of revenue by 2040, stakeholders gathered from across the quantum and innovation eco-system (many traveling interstate) to share their perspectives.    Hon Ed Husic MP, Minister for Industry and Science – provided a whole-of-government perspective of the objectives and considerations of a quantum commercialisation hub with national and global reach. Camille de Burgh and several representatives from DISR (Department Of Industry Science and Resources) shared what the Australian Government plans to do to support this emerging industry and echoed the Minister’s statements.

Larry Marshall, Chief Executive at CSIRO, Australia’s Chief Scientist, Dr Cathy Foley and Bronwyn Fox, Chief Scientist at CSIRO spoke to the vision and opportunity for Quantum Technology commercialisation in Australia and to CSIRO’s role in “Taking the Next Steps” to make a Quantum Industry a reality. An amazing panel combining research organisations, industry, and investors provided their views of what is required to achieve a thriving quantum industry in Australia.  Thank you Katie Green Cathy Foley Bronwyn Fox  Victoria Coleman Ed Husic MP James Rabeau Peter Turner Mingji Liu Phil Morle Larry Marshall Pieter Kerstens, and for all the incredible help from the fabulous staff at CSIRO Lindfield.

One of the best quotes of the night was from Phil Morle MSV, who said “What we need now is radical collaboration: while the market for quantum technology is emerging, there is no point in competing. Today we must work together to make the market. “

The event was brimming with radical collaboration and an exciting Quantum future is ahead!

Good collaboration doesn’t just happen. It’s based on strong relationships, knowledge sharing and trust. At the Lindfield Collaboration Hub, we have supported an amazing community of start-up innovators and SME’s. Here are some of their amazing stories.
