Examples of applying RAPTA
The version 1 RAPTA guidelines required further testing and development, improved accessibility of information and a set of worked examples to draw on. We have now completed several projects informed by RAPTA. These have been with varying degrees of formality and completeness – sometimes RAPTA was used explicitly and thoroughly while at other times it has underpinned the design in a partial tacit way; or as a desktop-only scoping assessment. Some examples include:
- Designing interventions to improve food security in Ethiopia
- Running a short course training Tongan government participants in planning for disaster resilience
- Working with UNDP to contribute to the design of Indigenous People’s Green Climate Fund projects
- A system view of water quality in the Ravi and Sutlej Rivers, Pakistan
- Resilience assessment desktop case studies in Thailand and Niger
- Assessing resilience to underpin implementation of Land Degradation Neutrality: A case study in the rangelands of western New South Wales, Australia (if you have access to Environmental Science and Policy, you can download the journal paper here)
- Contributing to the design of an approach to disaster resilience in Australia
