DCFP Progressing towards Equity
International Women’s Day (Sunday 8th March) was celebrated by CSIRO with various events. During a gathering to mark the day, it was acknowledged that 7 out of 11 post-doctoral researchers in DCFP and the Centre for Southern Hemisphere Oceans Research (CSHOR) Projects are women.
CSIRO’s work to achieve gender diversity is demonstrated through our participation in the Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) program. SAGE is an organisation that works to support and advance gender diversity and equity in STEMM by requiring participating institutions to undertake a rigorous and evidence-based process of self-assessment.
Gender diversity is important as it enables us to access the broadest range of talent. If the diversity we see in society is not reflected in our workplace, then we may not be realising our full potential.
Well done DCFP and CSHOR for their progress towards gender equity!
