EUMETSAT Meteorological Satellite Conference 2018

October 10th, 2018

On the week of the 17th until the 21st of September, Dr Bernadette Sloyan attended the EUMETSAT Meteorological Satellite Conference 2018, Tallinn Estonia. Bernadette presented an invited keynote talk on CSIRO’s Decadal Climate Forecasting Project in the Oceans and Climate Monitoring session.

EUMETSAT is an intergovernmental organisation that was founded in 1986. Their purpose is to supply weather and climate related satellite data, images and products – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – to the National Meteorological Services of the Member States in Europe, and other users worldwide. The Decadal Climate Forecasting Project utilizes the satellite data within our system.

The EUMETSAT Meteorological Satellite Conference is a forum that brings together meteorologists, scientists and researchers from around the world to share their experience and knowledge. EUMETSAT has organised a meteorological satellite conference every year for over thirty years. During that time, the conference has become a key annual event for the meteorological and scientific communities where participants from around the world can meet to share their experience and knowledge during plenary, poster and workshop sessions. The 2018 conference discussed such topics as preparing for MTG and EPS-SG, atmospheric chemistry monitoring and applications, and climate and ocean monitoring.
