Earth Observation takes over National Science Week – August 2020

This National Science week, events took a turn towards all things Earth Observation, with the ACT even taking part in a “Satellite Selfie” event in collaboration satellite operator MAXAR! Some cloudy weather means that not all the selfies have been taken, so visit the Inspiring The ACT website to find out if there is still a chance to be involved. There you will also find a link to other satellite activities, including a cut-out model of our very own NovaSAR-1.

To accompany the satellite selfie, the Centre’s Satellite Operations and Data Manager Dr Amy Parker joined a webinar hosted by Dr Brad Tucker at Mt Strombolo Observatory to discuss Australian Earth Observation satellites and data. With a panel that also featured the ANU, UNSW Canberra, and Geoscience Australia, the discussion covered both up- and down-stream aspects of Earth Observation, with questions flying in from an audience of all ages.
