CSIRO awarded Earth Observation Program of the Year 2025
On 28th May the sixth annual Australian Space Awards was held to recognise the leading professionals and businesses driving change across Australia’s space sector.
The CSIRO Earth Observation Program was awarded Earth Observation Program of the Year! This award reflects the commitment of the team to fostering unique Earth observation capabilities and relationships that benefit the nation.
CSIRO has had an enduring presence in the Australian Earth observation community for five decades. We support the uptake and implementation of Earth observation technologies through increasing trust in Earth observation data (such as through cal/val), scaling up data analytics to integrate multiple data streams on unprecedented scales using cloud computing (our EASI technology), providing access to new data types (via the NovaSAR-1 National Facility, which features free and open data access for approved users), and building capability in under-utilised EO data streams (through our SAR and hyperspectral capability activities). We also provide national leadership in international engagements, such as the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites.
CSIRO was a finalist in several award categories, with Kimberley Clayfield, leader of the CSIRO Space Program, being named Female Space Leader of the Year. Visit here for more information on the awards.
