The Zeiss AxioImager Z2 state-of-the-art wide-field fluorescence microscope equipped with a high-throughput 8 position motorised stage and Apotome3 optical sectioning system.
This microscope provides fluorescence, brightfield and DIC (Differential Interference Contrast) multichannel imaging. The system is equipped with a Colibri 7 LED configurable fluorescent light source along with Zeiss AxioCam 712 colour camera for fluorescence and brightfield imaging, and a Zeiss AxioCam 712 monochrome camera for sensitive image acquisition during optical sectioning and imaging in the far red region of the light spectrum. The fully motorised stage with 8 slide positions, nosepiece and 10 position reflector turret is fully controlled using ZEN 3.1 software enabling automated multichannel, tiled and optical section imaging. The Zen 3.1 software also includes the Zeiss Connect module for displaying fine features within samples along with location tracking and transfer to other BMIC Zeiss equipment.
APOTOME3 – high resolution optical sectioning
The Apotome3 uses structured illumination to remove out-of-focus light during imaging. By projecting a moving grid structure into the focal plane of your specimen along with an automated scanning mechanism, the Apotome 3 automatically acquires and processes a series of digital images into one optical section with improved contrast and increased resolution.
Default hardware setup
By default this microscope is equipped with 5x, 10x, 20x and 40x dry and a 63x water immersion objectives, and set up with 8 fluorescence filter sets listed below:
