After 3 years, the CSIRO Plant Oil group has reprogrammed sorghum leaves (L) into oil factories (R), with the liquid gold in yellow. The transfer of a metabolic pathway from seeds into leaves will assist the sustainable needs of a growing population.

After three years, the CSIRO cotton biotech team celebrated the successful engineering of a new stretchy building block into cotton cell walls (pink). We hope this will enhance cotton fibre properties so that one day our shirts wonât need ironing!
