Inventa 2018 – Audit of research effort and industry adoption

April 4th, 2018

Project introduction

Inventa 2018 is a joint CSIRO Aquaculture/Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) project exploring opportunities and barriers to production growth of aquaculture species, not only in Australia but globally as well. The project, led by Dr Tung Hoang, is initially performing an audit of research effort and industry adoption targeting two primary groups: researchers and aquaculture producers. In addition, the project welcomes opinions of relevant aquaculture development stakeholders, including policy makers, governors, investors, consumers, traders and NGO’s. The other project members are Dr Joshua Fielding (FRDC), Dr Harry King (CSIRO) and Dr Jennifer Cobcroft (JCU Singapore).

The results of Inventa 2018 will be presented in different formats (database, extension materials, reports) and shared with all participants. Opportunities and barriers identified by the project will be used to prioritise and develop RD&E strategies, and assist with networking among Inventa 2018 participants. Project progress and initial results will be updated at this site. Preliminary report is available by December 2018 while full report, extension materials and database should be accessible by June 2019.

Officially launched in March 2018, input to Inventa 2018 is possible via three options (i) online surveys, (ii) Skype/telephone interview or (iii) site visit & discussion. The surveys are being promoted by FRDC, CSIRO, national/international agencies, and personal networks. Your valuable contribution will help all of us understand better the context for aquaculture development, and reveal opportunities for partnership, technology transfer and production growth.

How to participate

Contributors are invited to use the following form in order to provide general information to help us understand who you are and what is the best arrangement for you to participate: Inventa 2018: Invitation

Once complete the Inventa 2018: Invitation researchers who agree to do an on-line survey are invited to use Inventa 2018: Species Audit by Researchers. Similarly, aquaculture producers or consultants who agree to do an on-line survey are invited to use Inventa 2018: Species Audit by Producers & Consultants. The project team will contact contributors that prefer to communicated via phone, Skype or a face-to-face meeting for further arrangement.

Nominations

We would appreciate your referrals to additional contributors. If you can nominate someone, please use Inventa 2018: Nomination so that we can invite them to join our study.
