EVENT: ‘Women in Engineering’ visiting our robots
On Wednesday 6th June, 20 members from the Women in Engineering (WIE) program at Griffith University visited CSIRO’s QCAT facilities, in west Brisbane.
The aim of the visit was to help give students ideas on exciting avenues of working in engineering, science and IT.
The tour of QCAT, lead by Craig James from Energy, included a CSIRO introduction, Data61 legged robotics and SLAM 3D mapping demonstrations, QCAT Site faculties, Remote Management Centre demonstrators and a career talk kindly presented by Erin McColl from the Robotics and Autonomous Systems Group at CSIRO Data61 and Krystina Lamb from Energy.
This was an opportunity for the students to hear from prominent female engineers about experiences that led them to where they are today and hopefully inspire other women to do the same.
