Women in AI Asia-Pacific Awards
Congratulation to Dr Yanran Jiang, who has been nominated as a finalist for the 2025 Women in AI APAC Awards!
Dr Yanran Jiang is a Research Scientist at CSIRO’s Data61, specialising in human-robot interaction and intelligent systems. She completed her PhD at Monash University, where she applied AI and wearable sensing to predict fatigue and optimise training in elite sport. Her research sits at the intersection of data science, human performance, and real-world deployment. Yanran is passionate about building human-centred technologies that adapt to users, support decision-making and extend human capabilities. Her current work focuses on designing explainable, proactive AI systems that collaborate with people in high-stakes scenarios, particularly in research and rescue robotics. Yanran believes in AI that not only performs but empowers.
Yanran was named a finalist in the AI in Innovation category of the 2025 Women in AI APAC Awards for her cross-domain research at the intersection of human performance and intelligent systems. Her PhD work at Monash University focused on developing machine learning and deep learning algorithms to accurately detect and predict exercise-induced fatigue using wearable sensing. These models enable personalized feedback for athletes and active individuals, with potential applications in injury prevention, adaptive training, and rehabilitation.
Now a Research Scientist at CSIRO’s Data61, Yanran continues to explore human–robot interaction (HRI), focusing on shared autonomy, explainable AI, and dynamic situational awareness in support of real-world human–robot collaboration. Building on her earlier work in AI-driven fatigue monitoring and human motion analysis, she develops intelligent, human-aware systems that enable effective collaboration between people and machines in complex, high-stakes environments such as search and rescue.
The Women in AI Asia-Pacific Awards celebrate exceptional women advancing AI across a range of sectors including health, education, finance, space, and innovation. The awards recognise leadership, technical excellence, and impact on industry and society. Finalists are selected from across the APAC region. Winners will be announced at the 2025 Gala Ceremony in Sydney on July 25th, bringing together leaders and changemakers committed to shaping a more inclusive and ethical AI future.
