QUT University Student Visit
The Robotics and Autonomous Systems Group at CSIRO’s Data61 Pullenvale site welcomed over 120 Second year QUTstudents studying Robotics this week!
Housed within CSIRO’s Queensland Centre for Advanced Technologies (QCAT), the students visited our Robotics Innovation Centre, Robotics labs, and outdoor testing sites designed to facilitate robotics research, collaboration and development.
The students learnt about how we design, build and test autonomous robots including ground, legged, aerial, and aquatic robots with group leader Navinda Kottege and staff members Ross Dungavell, David Haddon, Lauren Hanson, Brendan Tidd and Tom Molnar. They also got to see the state of the art In-Situ Resource Utilisation (ISRU) facility demonstrated by our colleagues in CSIRO Mineral Resources, Jane Hodgkinson and Craig James.
Situated on 50 acres of leafy grassland, outdoor tracks, and industrial areas, the students were able to see our state-of-the-art testing areas for ground, air and, underwater robots!
Our infrastructure also includes over 300m of shade cloth tunnels, outdoor rough terrain testbeds, motion capture systems, mechatronics labs and multi-material 3D printing facilities.
We work with a broad range of industries and are open for collaboration.
