New Staff: Welcome to the Team, Kasra!
We are very pleased to welcome to the CSIRO team Dr Kasra Khosoussi, who has recently joined us from MIT in the United States! Kasra is part of the Robotics Perception Team in the Robotics and Autonomous Systems Group in Data61. A world expert in SLAM and Artificial Intelligence, his work will mostly focus on multi-robot SLAM, making sense of data from multiple platforms for collaborative robotics.
Bio: Kasra received the B.Sc. degree in computer engineering from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, K. N. Toosi University of Technology in 2011, and the Ph.D. degree in robotics from the Centre for Autonomous Systems (CAS), University of Technology Sydney in 2017. He was a Visiting Ph.D. Student with the Department of Computer Science, University of Southern California (2015–2016). Prior to joining CSIRO’s Data51, he was a Research Scientist (2019-2021) and a Postdoctoral Associate (2017–2018) at MIT’s Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS). His research is primarily focused on developing robust and reliable algorithms with provable performance guarantees for single- and multi-robot perception and autonomy. His work was a Best Paper Award finalist in multirobot systems at the 2018 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA).
