The MPL contains the GeoTek Multi-Sensor Core Logger (MSCL) with sensors able to measure a range of geochemical and physical properties of drill cores. The MSCL automatically moves the core samples past a series of sensors which take measurements at intervals of 1-10cm along the length of the core.
The MSCL is capable of measuring BQ, NQ, HQ and PQ, whole unlined/lined or split cores with lengths ranging from 10cm to 155cm.
