2023 Group on Earth Observations Sustainable Development Goals Award

The CSIRO Centre for Earth Observation (CCEO) was pleased to accept the 2023 Group on Earth Observations Sustainable Development Goals Award in South Africa in November 2023 for our impactful achievements with the International Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) in support of the 2030 Agenda (Coordination Group in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, UNSDGs).

In this CEOS SDG Coordination Group, the CCEO has been collaborating closely with partners at NASA – National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the European Space Agency – ESA, as well as other Space Agencies, Group on Earth Observation (GEO) community, UN Custodian agencies, researchers and Sustainable Development Goals stakeholders.

Our CCEO contributed to global research and developed useful materials and technical user guides to increase data access and uptake in Australia and the Pacific region.

This Award from the global community recognizes the significant contribution our group has made to promoting the value of Earth observation satellite data in monitoring and achieving the UNSDGs.
