CARTA visualisation tool now available in CASDA

October 15th, 2023

Cube Analysis and Rendering Tool for Astronomy (CARTA), is a next generation image visualization and analysis tool designed for large images and cubes.

The CASDA team are very pleased to announce the installation and integration of the client-server version of CARTA to our systems. This allows users to view and do basic analysis of images and cubes without having to download the files onto their local systems.

There are several ways a user can start a CARTA session (see Figure 2):

  1. Click on the CARTA icon next to a image/cube in the CASDA Search Results page
  2. Select the image/cube(s) and click on Download. In the drop-down dialogue that appears select “View in CARTA”.

This CARTA integration is the major feature of our latest production release, v1.23, 13th October 2023.

Other enhancements include

  • UX/UI improvements to both the Search, Search Results and Skymap pages
