The BMTF Surface Engineering team works with biomedical device companies to improve biocompatibility of medical devices through improved surface chemistry and polymer coatings.

What can we do?

Our equipment enables us to improve properties of medical devices via surface modification using the following techniques

• ultrasonic spray coating
• precision dip coating
• parylene coating
• spin coating
• plasma polymerisation and surface modification
• UV grafting

In addition to surface modification we have access to a range of surface characterisation techniques at CSIRO such as AFM, SEM and XPS.
