PC2 lab space

BMIC facilities include a large and well-equipped PC2 certified general lab space for processing and preparing samples for microscopy. Facilities and equipment in this space include;

• 2x stereoscopes with adjustable light sources
• heat blocks, water baths and benchtop shaker
• pH meter
• Various balances and stirrers
• Microwave
• RO water system
• Adjustable height laminar flow hood.

Basic, common consumables e.g. slides, cover slips, plasticware along with a wide range of stains and chemicals for fixation, buffer preparation etc are also available in the lab for common use within reason.  For large projects or specialised requirements we do ask that users contribute to supplies.  In addition room B:03, accessible from the general lab area, provides a seperate space for fixation and embedded sample preparation and is equipped with 3x fume extraction hoods and a Pelco laboratory microwave system for rapid resin embedding protocols.
