Survey participants 2017

July 6th, 2016

The SELTMP has undertaken its second major data collection period for local residents, domestic and international tourists, commercial fishers, and tourism operators. It includes 1,933 local residents, 1,667 domestic and international tourists, 94 tourism operators, 91 commercial fishers, and 1,028 Australians (total of 4,813 surveys). Residents and tourists were surveyed using face-to-face techniques, marine tourism operators and commercial fishers were surveyed by telephone, and Australians were surveyed online. Given that there were no problems with data collection or entry, we suggest that the second critical datapoint for the SELTMP is solid and provides a representative insight into current social and economic conditions surrounding the Great Barrier Reef.
