Why robots are not a threat
In a interview to Brisbane Times during the ICRA2018 Mr Fred Pauling, CSIRO Data61 robotics and autonomous systems group leader said “field robots were about actually doing things in the real world.
Robots need to actually help for productivity reasons, they could do some of the more dangerous jobs humans should not be doing and those robots need to be really reliable and be able to survive in these harsh conditions and operate reliably over a long time.
Mr Pauling said he did not think robots taking away jobs from humans was a worry.
As a team, humans and robots together can be very productive,” he said.
