RACS-mid release

June 13th, 2023

The second major release of RACS data has been made available in the ASKAP archive (CASDA). This is the first data release of RACS-mid1 which surveyed the entire southern sky up to a declination of +49 degrees at a frequency of 1367.5 MHz, with a declination-dependent resolution of 8.1-47.5 arcsec, and a median sensitivity of 198 uJy/PSF. The release consists of 1493 unique tiles (and 88 duplicate observations). The release also includes Stokes V (circular polarisation) images. Further information on this release can be found in RACS-mid1 DR1 raw data and in the associated preprint of the paper which is available on arXiv (and has been accepted for publication in PASA).

An example of the improvement in sensitivity and resolution available with RACS-mid compared with NVSS and FIRST.

A subsequent release is planned later this year for the combined and curated data which is recommended for general science use. The high-band (RACS-high1) and second epoch low-band data (RACS-low2) are also planned to be released in the near future.
