RACS-mid completes first pass of observations
RACS-mid is a repeat of the Rapid ASKAP Continuum Survey in the ASKAP mid-band (centred on 1367.5 MHz). It covers the entire sky up to a declination of +41 degrees and requires a total of 1493 ASKAP observations to cover the entire sky visible to ASKAP. The first pass of these observations completed on the 15th of March 2021 and are currently being processed. The animation below shows the progress of observations over the past few months (the yellow tile shows the field being observed and the small yellow/purple disks show the positions of the sun/moon).
