Research & Development

Ultra-thin and flexible solar cells that you can bend, flex and wrap around your arm, will transform the way we make and use electronic devices.

Capabilities

The Printed Photovoltaics Team at CSIRO has been conducting research and development of low-cost methods for manufacturing and characterising flexible printed solar cells for more than a decade.

Characterisation

A wide array of characterisation equipment is available at CSIRO's Flexible Electronics Laboratory for evaluation of PV devices and modules having active areas ranging from 0.1 cm2 to ~1,000 cm2.

Perovskite Solar Cells

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have recently emerged as an exciting breakthrough in solar cell research.

Organic Solar Cells

An organic solar cell uses organic electronics, a branch of electronics dealing with electrically conductive organic polymers or small organic molecules, for light absorption, charge production, and transport to produce electricity from sunlight through the photovoltaic effect.

Competencies

A critical challenge for printed solar cell research is that lab-scale practices are often too far removed from industrial feasibility.

Applications

Imagine solar energy everywhere, for everyone.
