Pest READI: Regionally-Enabled Agroecological Decision Intelligence
|
What is Pest READI?
In regional areas, growers often face geographic isolation and fragmented networks, making unified action essential. The diverse mosaic of farms and industries requires collaborative approaches to address the growing demand for sustainable practices. Reducing chemical use and adopting non-chemical pest management options demand informed, collective decision-making.
Challenges such as COVID-19, flooding, and pest incursions have tested farmers’ resilience, impacting production and sales. Yet, these hurdles have sparked a spirit of innovation and collaboration.

Pest READI harnesses the power of communication and cooperation to drive prosperity in farming communities. This transformative 5-year project is co-designing a digital platform with stakeholders in the Northern Rivers (Bundjalung Nation) in NSW.
By integrating past, present, and future knowledge, Pest READI will provide scenario-based decision tools for area-wide integrated pest management (AW-IPM), connecting decision-making across landscapes and fostering healthier, more abundant ecosystems.
The Pest READI Project is made up of a large team of multi-disciplinary researchers, practitioners, and representatives all with the common goal of enhancing access to, and use of more sustainable pest and disease management practices.
